Can Osteoarthritis Causing Joint Pains Be Treated With Instaflex?

Doctors, I came across a new supplement called Instaflex which is meant for joint pains which was advertised on the internet. Is it available outside USA (I live in Malaysia) and would you recommend it for joint pains for a person suffering from osteoarthritis? How does it compare to another supplement called Flexamin?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. I will try to answer your concerns to the best of my ability.

I often get asked about joint supplements that contain chondroitin, glucosamine and MSM. Instaflex contains the following -

Glucosamine Sulfate, 1,500 mg
Methylsulfonymethane (MSSM), 500 mg
White willow bark extract, 250 mg
Ginger root extract, 250 mg
Boswellia serrate extract, 125 mg
Tumeric root extract, 50 mg
Cayenne fruit, 50 mg
Hyaluronic acid, 4 mg

There is really no scientific evidence that these supplements make much difference in the treatment of osteoarthritis. Having said that they are safe to take and are sometimes worth a try. If patients want to take them I tell them to try them for 3 months and monitor their symptoms over this time.
Instaflex is really no different to all the other joint supplements on the market.

I hope this helps - please message me back if you have any further questions.

Best wishes,

Adrian Rawlinson MD
