Can Large Swollen Vaginal Lips After Surgical Abortion Be Yeast Infection?
hi, i am 22. i had a surgical abortion 4 weeks ago. stopped bleeding in like 2 weeks and for about a week after that it was just dark brownish liquid. the bleeding stopped totally. I had cramps and the bleeding but had no other problems. I went to my follow-up appointment and they said everything looks good. but now i have some blood and the dark brownish discharge is back. is this normal ? and besides that I started feeling itchy down there and the left side of my labia or the"lips" is very swollen. it is 3 times bigger than what it is supposed to be and it is not soft but feels kinda rough I have been taking antibiotics that the hospital gave me after the abortion for 2 days. is this a huge problem that i need to worry about ? i don't know what to do. could this be a yeast infection ?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Itching and swelling in the vaginal walls can be due to vaginal infection, either bacterial or fungal. It can occur after surgical intervention. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated including vaginal swab examination and treatment accordingly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
