Can An Isotope Scan Detect Broken Bones Under The Hip Socket?
Can an isotope scan show if I have broken bones under my hip socket or not, X-ray not show that, or Bone Scan. Dear Doctors I stongly believe that I have no bone under my hip socket to support my full body weight and that is the reason why I must use wheelie walker to support my hip !!! I had corrective hip surgery 20 February 2007, and Dr knock with hammer my cemented hip socket off !!! I was X-ray on 5 September 2007 , there is a fluency noted in relation to the right ischium which may reflect a stress fracture!!! Yours sincerely Mauno Ammesmaki.E-mail : YYYY@YYYY
Hi, Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic. An isotope scan is much better than an X-ray to detect a fracture. I think you have undergone hip replacement surgery. There are chances of stress fracture developing due to osteoporosis/obesity. X-Ray is an initial investigation which will make us suspicious for stress fracture and may not be diagnostic in many cases. Nuclear scan using isotopes is very good in detecting stress fractures and will definitely pick up any stress fracture. You should undergo a nuclear scan to confirm diagnosis of stress fracture. Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards, Dr. Pankaj Nagori Specialist Radiologist
