Can Mucodyne Be Used With Omeprazole For Mucus And Cough?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I occasionally need to take omeprozole for a stomach problem, although I was told I do not actually have an ulcer and am using them at the moment. I have just been prescribed mucodyne capsules for quite bad mucus/continuous cough after suffering from flu followed by a sinus infection, however the patient leaflet states that you should not take them with an ulcer. Would I be ok to use them with the omeprozole
Yes, Mucodyne may be used with Omeprazole but not together. Since Mucodyne can cause stomach acidity, abdominal discomfort and diarrhea as its side effects hence it should be used with caution in patients suffering from stomach ulcer or history of having had stomach ulcer before.
On the other hand, to prevent the stomach acidity and abdominal discomfort omeprazole may be be taken on an empty stomach 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast/meals and mucodyne may be taken thereafter.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
