Can Mirena IUD Cause Loose Stool With Blood?

I had recieved the mirena iud back in December. Everything seemed normal except that I would have a bloody stool every so often. It happened about three times but the stool was hard to pass so I figured that was the cause. But then today I woke up with a upset stomach. I had two loose bowel movements within a four hour span. About an hour after that I had another movement, this time it was solid but soft. When I had wiped I noticed quite a bit of bright red blood. I hadblooked at my stool and about half of it was a bright red color and there was a significant pink tint to the water in the toilet bowl. Is this a side effect of mirena or is it possibly something more severe?

Hello,

You have been on Mirena IUD since December. Presently, you have been experiencing loose stool with blood. Some women on Mirena do report of blood in stool, you can talk to your health care worker and get the Mirena removed because of discomfort that you are experiencing.

However, blood in the stool can be due to various other medical conditions like polyp in the bowel, IBS, hemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, colon cancer, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get blood workouts, urinalysis, stool test, etc., done. Get colonoscopy done to stay on the safer side. Take care of your hygiene and stay away from anxiety, stress and addictions if any. You will be accordingly treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
