Can Implanon Cause Recurrent Vaginal Bleeding?

Hi. I am a 25 year old female. 5 4 and 146 lbs. I recently went under anesthesia 3 weeks ago for a surgery to remove my submandibular salivary gland and 2 lymphnodes. I had no complications. My question is, I have the Implanon birth control implant in my arm. It was placed in July 2012. Ever since I had the implant placed I have always had 2 periods a month. My OB/GYN checked me around 8 months after and stated that if the 2 periods a month haven t stopped by now, they probably will continue until I have the implant removed. I should have started my first period of the month around April 5th and I have not started one yet. I am wondering if the anesthesia or the 875 mg. does of amoxicillin I was on for a week could have affected my birth control or changed my cycle? This is just strange to me. My periods have been like clock work since having the Implanon placed and I want to make sure everything is okay.

Implanon should be removed after 3 years as it may not be effective in preventing pregancy. I would recommend checking a pregnancy test and scheduling an appointment to have it replaced.
