Can I Use Aloe Vera, Ibuprofen And Antihistamine To Treat Burns On Forehead, Neck And Shoulders?

Hi, I got caught out in the sun on Sunday (3 days ago now) and got badly burnt on my forehead, neck and shoulders. The next day the brun showed up but yesterday the top of my nose and between my forehead began swelling, and there is a puffiness down to my inner eye sockets which is giving my face a weird look and making me feel odd. I've been using cold compresses, aloe vera, keeping hydrated, taking ibuprofen and an antihistamine but it's not going down. HELP!

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Acute Sunburn can be very discomforting and painful. If i were your treating doctor i would advice you to use a moderately potent topical steroid like mometasone OR fluticasone for at least 5-7 days.

If the sunburn is causing lot of discomfort, pain and swelling it is advisable to give patients a short course of oral steroids for 7 days.

Intake of anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen helps and can be taken SOS.

Of course, use a broad spectrum sunscreen throughout the day.

take care
