Can I Take Clexane During Pregnancy For Protein S Deficiency?
Age 18, 5.4ft, 9.2 stone, Protein S Deficiency (Strong family history of it) 1 previous miscarriage. Hi, i m 16 and a half weeks pregnant, been on clexane for around a month now for protein s deficiency but i ve been missing a few here and there just out of hate for them. Could you tell me all the risks there can be if I wasn t taking them please? Hopefully it will make me get over the fact I dislike them and encourage me to take them. Thanks.

Hi,
Clexane is used to prevent formation of blood clots in legs and these can travel to lungs causing a life threatening condition ,in the mother.Especially so if she has a previous history of conditions called Thrombophilias of which protein S deficiency is one.
I would like to know if u have had a full thrombophilia screen and also do u have a strong family history of blood clots in close relatives as well.
Also you have had a miscarriage ,was it in early weeks or after 12 weeks. as sometimes thrombophilias are related to second trimester miscarriages and taking clexane will be of additional benefit to you ,in maintaining the pregnancy and preventing further miscarriage.
