Can I Become Pregnant When I Have PID?

Just a few days ago i had my gallbladder removed and during surgery my surgeon diagnosed me with fitz hugh curtis sydrome. He removed the adhesions during my surgery and told me that i had nothing to worry about. I read further and seen that it could cause infertility. I have never been pregnant and now i am thinking this may be why. Is it possible for me still to have a child??

Hi,

Fitz Hugh Curtis syndrome is caused by chlamydia. Chlamydia can affect fallopian tubes and if you have evidence of infection/adhesion on surgery, you need to confirm the patency of the tubes. This can be done by HSG (hysterosallphingo graphy ) or laparoscopically by dye,the added advantage of laparoscopy is adhesiolysis and if the tubes are blocked cannulation can be attempted simultaneously.
But if blockage of both tubes is identified then IVF could be a better option

Hope this helps.
Regards.
