Can Hepatitis B Vaccination Cause Spleen Enlargement?

Hi my wife did an untrasound and it show there is Spleen enlargement about 141mm. Before she had her untrasound in less then 5 days before she had her 3rd Hepatitis B vacination injection. My question would be could this vacination cause her spleen enlargement? Thank you.

It's very unlikely the vaccination caused the spleen to enlarge. That is something that occurs slowly over time and not in 5 days. Also, I have never heard this as a possible side effect of the hep B vaccination. Something was already going on before that, otherwise your wife wouldn't have been scheduled for the ultrasound. In any case, she needs further evaluation to find out why her spleen is enlarged, which her doctor is probably doing. Hope this answers your question.

Welcome to HCM.
Hepatitis vaccination is not a cause for enlargement of the spleen.
She should see a doctor and be investigated for the splenomegaly as the normal size is about 110mm.
Some of the causes are
Viral infections, such as mononucleosis
Parasitic infections, such as toxoplasmosis
Bacterial infections, such as endocarditis (an infection of your heart's valves)
Leukemia, a cancer in which white blood cells displace normal blood cells
Lymphoma, a cancer of lymph tissue, such as Hodgkin's disease
