Can Elmiron Help Treating Bladder Conditions, Supposedly Induced By Overuse Of Caffeine, And What Is The Recovery Time?

If drinking 20-40 ounces of black coffee a day is pretty much the only thing I do wrong according to the list of things not to eat in order not to irritate your bladder, will the Elmiron work eventually? I ve been on it for 2 mos. and 1 week, and my bladder bothers me regardless of whether I drink coffee or not, so I figure...why not?

You must have been started on Elmeron after your urologist has diagnosed you as having interstitial cystitis after a cystoscopy.
I advise you to continue using Elmeron for at least 1 more month, and also suggest you avoid any known bladder irritants like caffeine and alcohol for the time being, as the effects of medicine are not likely to be apparent till after 3-4 months of initiation of treatment. You could undo a lot of good work and patience by stopping the drug at this stage and restarting Coffee.
