IS IT NORMAL TO A 47 YEARS OLD LADY THAT IT WAS ABOUT ONE WEEK BEFORE MY PERIOD AND I HAD SEX W/MY HUSBAND (WHO IS WELL ENDOWED) AND APPARENTLY DURING OUR SEXUAL INTERCOURSE I HAD BLED LIKE I WAS ON MY PERIOD BUT RIGHT AFTER SEX IT STOPPED AND NOW THERE IS NO BLEEDING AND I SHOULD BE GETTING MY PERIOD IN A FEW MORE DAYS. I DONT HURT OR HAVE ANY PROBLEMS..ITS JUST WEIRD TO ME AND I WANT TO KNOW HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE OR MAYBE THE CAUSE OF IT? OR IS IT NORMAL BECAUSE MY PERIOD IS ABOUT TO COME?
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
Post-coital bleeding (i.e. bleeding after sexual intercourse) in a woman above 40 years of age needs to be evaluated properly as it can be due to problems of the cervix, vagina or uterus. Moreover, since you do not report ant apparent trauma or pain, it all the more warrants further assessment. So, I would advise you to consult a doctor, for a gynaecological examination and further investigations, if necessary.
Best wishes,
Dr. Sheeba Stephen
