Being On Birth Control, Why Do I Have Symptoms Of Pregnancy?

I'm on the birth control call Implanon. I am also overweight, for the past few weeks I've been having some symptoms relating to pregnancy. I'm almost at my two year mark with my birth control, could there be a possibility that my birth control has lost its effect and i got pregnant. I've taken two tests and both have come back negative

Hello and welcome to HCM,

I understand your concern.
The symptoms you are experiencing are most likely due to implanon. It acts for 3 years at least and may provide protection up to 4 years but the 3 years is recommended to avoid any loss in efficacy and inadvertant unwanted pregnancy. Also your urine pregnancy tests are negative.

I suggest that you consult your gynecologist and discuss these issues. If there is absent menses a short course of estrogens may help induce a period and decrease some of the symptoms.
