Are Fibroids Responsible For Urinary Urgency?

I don t have my ovaries only uterus. On uterus have four fibroids which in less than a year have grown. Its now 2 are 3 cm and others are 4cm. recently had terrible urge to urinate but nothing came out but would have the feeling. I had no sign of this but just urge and huge botherness at front of lower belly. PA say it was a bladder spasm. Whatever that is it is not the first time I get this. On July my uterus and fibroids are coming out. Are the fibroids causing this urging?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can fully understand your concern.
You should mention your age and explain absence of both ovaries.
Why is hysterectomy being done ?
Fibroids are not causing your urinary urge.
The two aren't related. That means, fibroids and bladder aren't related.
The two are two different systems.Hope your doubts are cleared.
If you've any doubts, send them to me, as a direct question.

Dentist Dr. Viraj Ravin Shah's  Response
Hello,

I can understand your concern. Uterine fibroids do have a tendency to cause pressure on urinary bladder and thus feeling of urinary urgency and frequent urination. As the fibroids have grown large lately, the urgency feeling is increased for you.

As you have already planned removal of fibroids with surgery, this issue of urination should be resolved after surgery.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM for your concern. I wish you good health!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
