Are Clonazepam Tablets An Alternative For Nexiforte?
Age 58 yrs, Ht: 4 11 ,History of epilepsy siesures and depression along with Bipolar dis order; I am on Nexiforte for a very long time and I am now asked to stop it. I am wondering if SEILO (0.5 mg), CLONAZEPAM tablets will act as alternative to Nexito Forte
Hello. I read your query carefully and I understand you concern regarding the interruption of a drug you have taken for a long time. That being said Clonazepam is not an alternative to Nexito Forte (Escitalopram), they belong to different classes. Clonazepam belongs to the benzodiazepine class, it is used for anxiety but only for short term treatment because of the potential for dependence and tolerance. Is used also for epilepsy. There are other indications for rarer conditions, but depression is not one of them. Escitalopram meanwhile is an antidepressive belonging to the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). To suggest an alternative I would need to know more about your case and why it has been suggested to be stopped. Clonazepam is not a substitute though. I hope to have been of help.
