Are Belching, Stomach Discomfort Side Effects Of Taking Anastrozole, Nortriptyline, Simvastatin?

I take Anastrozole Tab 1 mg, Nortriptyline 60mg, Simvastatin 40 mg just before I go to bed at night. Recently I have been belching a lot and having discomfort in my stomach after taking the medications. I take two to three Tums and the discomfort goes away. What causes the discomfort? I have been taking these medications for several years and the discomfort started within the last month.

Hello,

Anastrozole may cause gastric discomfort, so also it may occur with simvastatin as well as Nortryptiline.

Hence it is difficult to pin point the drug causing stomach discomfort.

However, since you remain tolerant of these drugs for years together, one of these is unlikely the offending agent.

Antacid like Pantoprazole with minimum drug interaction can be taken for a period (4-6 weeks) to relieve peptic dyspepsia (you are having relief with Tums/calcium carbonate).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
