Ankylosing Spondylitis. Can Humera Medicine Should Be Continued Life Long?

Hello, Our friend, a man of age 30 who has ankylosing spondylitis is just about to start Humera due to a very difficult recent flair-up. Of course we are all concerned about having to start such a powerful drug but see it is necessary to get things under control. Once a person starts this drug will they have to take it forever or is it just a short term thing to get the inflammation under control?

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

There is no cure for ankylosing spondylitis, but treatments can decrease your pain and lessen your symptoms.

The drugs humaria is biologics and have shown to decrease the pace of the disease.

But the main stay recommendation for ankylosing spondylitis is exercise. Physiotherapy combined with swimming, stretching, yoga etc. are used in conjunction with medical treatment. So dont stop exercising.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care.
