Aged Person Is Passing Blood In Urine. No Pain, Or Burning Sensation Is A Diabetic, Hypertensive Patient. Problem?

hi,
My grand pa is passing blood in the urine.Urine is dark red in colour. there is no associated pain or burning sensation while urinating. First episode of this took place yesterday evening at around 5pm and next incidence was at around midnight. He is a diabetic and hypertensive patient and on aspirin therapy too as he had gone by-pass surgery 10 years back. Is it any kind of alarming situation?,Do reply asap

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
As your grand pa is having painless hematuria, requires evaluation.
At this age there might be having some pathology in urinary tract.
Consult urologist and get investigated.
Go for blood pressure checking, sudden episode of high blood pressure can give rise to this problem as well.
Ok and take care.
