Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
I still am not clear from your question whether the glass is introduced during operation or you got it accidentally punctured. If it is the former then follow your surgeons advice. There is remote chances of infection, if any. If it is the second one, chances of infection is more likely, if the glass piece was unsterile. I will advice you to follow you surgeons advice.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Maruti Karale's  Response
Hello!
Thanks for query.
Glass piece will not dissolve or discompose in body.It has to be removed from body wherever it is.
Removing glass piece from hand by surgery is the only option.
Risk of nerve damage during hand surgery is low in your case.
Consult with a good hand surgeon for operation.

Hope this helps you.
Wish you good health.
Thank you.
