Abdominal Pain, Low Grade Fever, Headaches, Migraines. What Can Help?

My 10 year old daughter has had a low grade fever since Tuesday of last week, She also has intermittent abdominal pain, especially after eating, and chest pain at times. At times she has had severe headaches & abdominal pain, which a neurologist recently said he thinks she is having abdominal migraines & migraine headaches. Does this all sound related? Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

Yes, Migraine can happen in kids.
Migraine can be associated with abdominal pain, vomiting. Usually family history will be positive for such head aches. And its a throbbing head ache on one side of the head and usually relieved after sleeping.

However I would suggest a short course of Lansoprazole or any antacids for her abdominal pain- as pain aggravated by food and chest pain may be due to gastritis.

If its migraine and her attacks are very frequent, you may ask your doctor for medications that can prevent such attacks.

Observe if there is an association between her dietary habits and headache- as some food items like chocolates, nuts, hot dogs, MSG may precipitate migraines.

Hope my answer helps you.
Best wishes.
