83years, On Pacemaker For Congestive Heart Failure Have Trouble In Swallowing Food And Breathing While Sleeping. Need Suggestion
My mother is 83 with pacemaker and congestive heart failure. I have noticed how much more she is sleeping and her breathing seems harder and she wheezes. She also lost her first born son 6 months ago. How much more can someone this age take? She is having trouble swallowing food and medication I think this is narrowing of the esaughagus. How much do you put your loved one through Dr. talking about doing some type of scope.
Pacemaker has nothing to with these symptoms unless she is taking betablockers drugs which can cause wheeze. make sure she is not taking any drug by the name carvedalol/bisprolol/Propanalol/Atenolol. If not then she might need some medication for wheeze . COPD is the cause of Wheeze in this age group.
Get her Endoscopy to exclude any obstruction inside oesophagus. because any tumour inside esophagous can cause both feeding and respiratory problem. I hope its not tumour.
I hope this is answer to your question.
