2 Year Old Child, Leg Pain, Rash And Pain With Weight Bearing. Shingles? Will It Cause This Much Pain?

My 2 year old grand son developed leg pain with weight bearing Friday am , was brought to clinic and xray negative, NP comented, look, there are some bug bites. sataurday, child woke with increased rash and pain with weight bearing. Sunday woke with shingles type red moist blistery rash lower leg....we went to er NP dx shingles; dr statates dermatitis....prednisone oral 2x daily and to check with his pediatrician in am...do you think shingles could cause this much pain with standing??

Hi,
Unlikely! It may be some allergic dermatitis or something called henoch schonlein purpera.
However this purpura is not moist unless scratched!
Pediatrician will be able to diagnose on seeing the rash.
