12 Year Old With Blood In Urine. Family History Of Kidney Stones, Crohn's Disease. Worried

My son who is 12 just had a ct scan today because he was showing blood in his urine. They were looking for kiddney stones because I have them. I am his mother. They found no stones but did find fluid in his abdomen. They want him to have inflammation marker blood tests. This worries me because I have had severe case of chroens desease for the last twelve years including two bowel resection. Could this be a sign he too has the desease or are there other causes in boys

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Blood in urine may be due to urine infection, renal stones, trauma, kidney tumors, and some times due to glomerular involvement like IgA nephropathy, and nephritis.

Blood in urine is not related to Crohn's disease.

Stop worrying and investigate the child as per the doctor advise.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
