Hello there, there have been studies that show that patients on cannabis that is smoked have a better control of symptoms of crohn s and also have better weight control. The weight loss in them is reversed to a large extent. The mechanism of action seems to be compounds in medical marijuana(cannabinoids) that seem to reduce the secretory diarrhea in crohn s and also alleviate the pain of the disease. Since it is still a fairly experimental therapy all doctors may not endorse it. Also the ethical side is an issue since it has abuse potential. But at the end of it it comes to you as a patient.
