11 Year Old Son, Diagnosed With Ear Infection. Prescribed Amoxicin. Can I Use Cephalexin For This Infection?
My 11 yr old son just got diagnosed with ear infections in both of his ears. This was done at Urgent Care tonight. They prescribed Amoxicilin but did not have any and the pharmacies are closed. Can I use Cephalexin for this infection. I got a prescription filled a couple months ago and never had to use it. Thank you!

For ear infection, amoxicillin is the drug of choice.
As it is prescribed in an appropriate dosage for ear infection, I advise you to use amoxicillin only.
Don't substitute with another class of antibiotic in the place of prescribed drug.

Welcome to HCM.You can use Cephalexin in place of the Amoxacillin,but amoxacillin has been found the better of the two drugs in ENT infections.
