My 11 month old baby has had diarrhoea 3 times in 24 hours and is very lethargic, what is the best remedy? She is drinking water and has fed this morning and had milk!

Hi Lee colkin,
If your baby does not have symptoms of infection like stomach cramps/fever/blood-in-stools/ foul smell from stools/rice water appearance of stools then the following should be done:
1. Continue breast-feeding. It has all the anti-bodies needed.
2. Use only boiled & cooled water to drink & prepare baby's food.
3. proper hygiene maintenance-wash hands/plates/bottles etc in hot water.
4. ORS mixture prepared as per recommended instructions
It should be given as 1-2tsp/kg body weight of the baby for every stool passed.
5. Light/easily digestible food only.
6. Increase intake of curd.
If you do not see any improvement in 48 hrs, please get a pediatrician to check out the baby for infection or other causes.
Thanks & take care
