Brief Answer:
It is normal for a sore throat to affect one side and then the other

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service,

I carefully read your query, reviewed the images and understand your concern.

It is very common for the sore throat to start on one side and later affect the other side.

In your case, because the right side of the throat is not painful when swallowing but only when touching from outside, this may be due to enlarged lymph nodes on that side of the neck.

When we go through an infection the lymph nodes may react and become painful. This is a normal reaction to fight the infection and is nothing to worry about.

To conclude:

- It is normal for a sore throat to be on one side and later affect the other side

- The pain on the right side can be duet to the lymph nodes reacting against infection and this is normal

- You should continue the antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor and also you may take paracetamol and ibuprofen to help with the pain and fever

- If you are not better in a total of 5-7 days from the start of the symptoms or you notice any worsening you will need a follow-up visit with your doctor.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
