Hello - I Have Had This Creamy Bitter Taste In

default
Posted on Tue, 31 Dec 2019
Question: hello - I have had this creamy bitter taste in my mouth constantly for about 2 weeks now. It’s irritating me as everything tastes weird. Anything I eat has a creamy bitter after taste. My tongue almost feels like it’s a bit burnt / dry underneath. Health wise I am fine ( I had a small cold 2 days ago) but that’s better now. These symptoms started way before my cold. I haven’t got oral thrush or diabetes ( saw a doctor and did a urine test ) my dental health is fine also. Like I say I feel completely fine. No other symptoms. I have read online it could be a salivary glad infection, or a sinus infection (but I have no mucus) perhaps a sinus wash would help? Or acid reflux ( I do get bad heartburn on average 3 nights a week. But is there any cure to this weird taste in my mouth. It’s very irritating no matter how many times I brush my teeth I still taste creamy on my tongue. Perhaps I need antibiotics? Please help I just want my normal taste back.

Brief Answer:
Consult with ENT specialist for detailed evaluation...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, there can be several causes for that which should get evaluated. Still as per your history, I think it may be due to acid reflux as you have history of severe heartburn.

Please let me know do you have burning sensation in the chest, dry cough?
Are you taking any other medication regularly?

For further assessment I would suggest you to consult with ENT specialist for detailed clinical examination. He may procure/advice saliogram, blood sugar levels, upper GI endoscopy as per evaluation.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. Till then you can take sugar free gums. Keep your self hydrated.

Avoid smoking and alcohol if you have it. Avoid hot and spicy foods. Continue antacids. Do regular exercise.

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further.

Please see detailed answer..

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

As per your history, dry cough, bitter taste in mouth and severe heartburn may be due to acid reflux.

For that you can take antacids tablet pantoprazole 40 mg and syp mucaine gel after consultation.

So I would suggest you to consult with ENT specialist. He may procure /advice relevant investigations as per evaluation.

Certain thyroid medications can cause metallic taste in mouth. Salivary gland infection can cause pain in mouth.

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further.
