Question: What type of doctor will treat my friend for an ongoing scalp infection? He has been hospitalized twice for IV antibiotics and was told he had cellulitis/staph infection, but his head continues to swell and he is not getting better. Do you know anyone in the XXXXXXX area to treat this once and for all?

Brief Answer:
infectious disease specialist / dermatologist

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and I understand your concern. Infection of the scalp known to be as cellulitis staph infection needs management which comes under domain of both a dermatologist as well as an infectious disease specialist and even a general surgeon if it needs any surgical intervention.

All you need is the right antibiogram of the organism which can be easily assessed from culture and sensitivity of the wound.

Seek any one from the above mentioned speciality and hope for the best.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
