Question: what testing does a infertility specialist do when he gets a new patient?

The testing is done based on history.
for e.g. if a patient has had a pelvic surgery she would need hysterosalpingogram at the beginning which is typically done as step 2 in other patients with no similar history.

Day 3 FSH LH PRL TSH as baseline tests
If PCOS is suspected androstenedione , free testosterone,fasting and pp serum insulin, sex hormone binding globulin ...
For older patients AMH(antimullerian hormone)
Semen Exam after 3-5 days abstinence
TVS follicular study
PCT- post coital test
Tube test_Hysterosalpingogram
Diagnostic hysteroscopy and laparoscopy
