Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is Dr XXXXXXX cardiologist from Fortis Hospital.
I can understand the concern for your father and is overwhelmed to see such affection.
Risks factors for getting a heart disease are diabetes, high bp, smoking, abnormal lipid profile.
Such patients have symptoms like chest heaviness on exertion & breathing difficulty on exertion.
I will recommend you for a test called Stress Echo, which is a very good test in predicting future cardiac risk. We generally recommend it to every diabetic male who has diabetes for more than 5yrs.
If that is negative, than the chances of a getting a heart disease is very rare. So you can get that test done & be assured after the result.
I wish a good health for your father & you.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Diabetes affects nerves

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Diabetic patients generally do not have chest pain as diabetes affect the nerves ( diabetic neuropathy) & they present directly in emergency as heart attack.
3 yr old diabetes is not that bad & I'll still advice you for Stress Echo for both your father & mother which is a very good test. But if you still want more accurate result than a Better test than this is CT Coronary Angiography & if that does not show any blockage, their is no chance of getting a heart attack.
Now the medicine part - You can keep Tab Disprin, which is a blood thinner, at home which we regularly give to every heart patient. If anyone gets a chest pain Tab Disprin is to be chewed immediately which helps in decreasing clot formation. Than you have to reach nearby hospitalas soon as ppossible.
I hope i answered your query.
Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Lung cancer a condition which occurs because of abnormal genetic makeup of an individual (means some have abnormal genes in their dna which causes cancer).
Now this gene is activated by smoking. So every person will not get lung cancer as everyone does not have this abnormal gene.
Their is no specific way of smoking which will prevent lung cancer & I'll recommend you to not smoke as smoking causes a variety of other diseases also.
I will recommend you to meet a lung specialist who will explain you in a better way.
If you have any further query, I'll be happy to help or you can choose to close the discussion.
Thanks
