Brief Answer:
3 months.rarely 6 months.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering.
Window period is the time period where antibodies are not produced and so are difficult to be detected.
There are variations in the production of antibodies against HIV by body. Usually they are detected by 3 months post exposure to HiV organism. very rarely it may take 6 months to be detected that too is rare possibilities.
So usually 3 months is taken. And in anxious patients they are repeated after 6 months.
You can get back for any clarification.

I had a 14 weeks negative test. Shall i consider it final? Next to it i had a case of deep kissing. Is it a risky incident for hiv contraction?

Brief Answer:
Not risk for HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you follow up query.
If you have done Elisa and western blot after 12 weeks I would rate as conclusive,if you are fine and fit and healthy and is not weak or malnourished. (As malnourishment can give negative results). Then you can be considered negative for HIV.
If you are too anxious we need to repeat test after 6 months. Otherwise not needed.
Kiss usually do not transmit HIV provided you do not have XXXXXXX ulcers or abrasions in oral cavity.
