If this is what you are referring to,It's EEG or Electroencephalogram.It is designed to record the electrical activity of brain cells.It's most common use is to diagnose seizures or epilepsy.However,it can also be useful in states of Coma(whether electrical brain activity is present or not) and altered behaviour (to see if abnormal electrical discharges in the brain are causing altered behaviour).
