Question: Started out as ear ache in right ear. Went to my primary physician and they saw no signs of an infection. They referred me to an ENT. ENT found nothing referred me to my dentist for possible infection in my jaw. Dentist took x rays but no signs of an infection. This morning I have been dizzy and dry heaving. Tenderness in my scalp on right side of my head.

ent consultatation with interventions.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

I would like to ask some more questions related to your dizziness like hearing loss or nausea.

If I were your treating Doctor for this case of dizziness with ear pain or heaviness, I would come up with five possibilities, these include:

1. vestibular neuritis
2. Labyrinthitis.

Labyrinthitis and vestibular neuritis are disorders resulting from an infection that inflames the inner ear or the vestibulo-cochlear nerve, which connects the inner ear to the brain.

3. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo-( BPPV).-due to debris that has collected within a part of the inner ear.

4.medications-ototoxic drugs-gentamycin,aspirin.

5. migraine

I suggest you to to consult ENT surgeon and get detailed ENT examination, otoscopy, balance tests to differentiate between central(brain) or peripheral(inner ear) dizziness, hearing tests(audiometry) to rule out any fluctuating hearing loss.

I advise you to stop driving two wheeler, immobilze your self from daily routine activities till you evaluate.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
