Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that Gout is a type of arthritis that is common in males mainly affecting the big toes and can sometimes involves multiple joints .It is very common in obese male alcoholics.
For assigning a diagnosis of arthritis swelling is very important , just having pain in finger joints does not mean that you are having arthritis plus gout will not have this kind of presentation.
You should get your metabolic profile , S. TSH , Calcium , Vitamin D levels tested along with Rheumatoid factor as metabolic abnormalities as well as RA can present this picture of pain in fingers .
