Question: can you decipher this for me? I am concerned. punctate myometrial calcifications ranging up to 0.3 cm. There are nabothian cysts at the cervix. There is also a small amount of fluid in the endocervical canal. The endometrial echoes are normal 0.3 cm in width. Both ovaries are imaged. There is a large cyst at the right ovary 7.3 cm. This has no internal echoes, a smooth back wall and enhanced sound transmission. There are follicular cysts at the left ovary. A small amount of free fluid in the cul-de-sac may be physiologic. IMPRESSION: Large 7.3 cm unilocular right ovarian cyst. This appears benign by ultrasound criteria but with the large size consider short interval follow up in a subsequent menstrual cycle. TIME OF

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I understand your cause of concern ma'am, but so far from the ultrasound report the cyst in the right ovary seems to be benign (not cancerous).

But it is also important to note that an ultrasound cannot really help in a very accurate manner to distinguish between benign and a malignant lesion. In such a scenario, we can use a follow-up ultrasound to be scheduled after a certain duration (2-6 weeks) of time to see if the cyst has grown in size.

If at all the cyst has grown in size substantially, then this could possibly be malignant and will have to be confirmed with the help of a biopsy and may even have to be operated at the earliest.

Another good approach to finding the exact diagnosis is the CA125 marker your doctor has ordered. This will help consider/rule out cancer. Do not worry ma'am, from the current reports we know that this lesion is only in the ovary. I am hoping and praying this is benign, and there is nothing to worry about.

But if our luck is not as good, and this is possibly cancerous then we can still operate on it at the earliest and present all future complications as this is very immature now.

Do not panic, and do not worry. Everything should be fine and everything happens for the best. Please do share the CA125 report with me, and also do not miss the follow-up ultrasound examination. Your doctor may request for a more specific investigation like an MRI or CT scan if required.

Please stay strong and have faith, everything will be fine very soon. You are in my prayers and always will be.

Best of luck ma'am.
