Question: Dear sir -
1) kindly guide and confirm the exact refractive errors of both eye as per attached report.
2) a) kindly guide weather the refractive error for right eye is -7 or -7 + 1.50= -8.50
b) Kindly guide weather the refractive Error for left eye is -6.00 or -6.00 + -1.75 = -7.75

3) kindly guide the significance of numerator and denominator digits mentioned in refractive error report.
4) kindly guide the significance of 180 * and 170* in refractive error report.

Brief Answer:
Myopia preoperatively

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
I will not be answering you in chronological order but in a manner in which it will be easy to understand.
Right eye power is -7.0 spherical and -1.5 cylinder at 180° this means 7 is a power all around and -1.5 cylindrical power acts at 90°to the given axis, which in this case is 180°.T his shows that the eye ball is not completely round and has different configuration in different sectors.
Left eye power is -6.0 spherical and -1.75 at 170°which again is explained in the similar manner.T his explains Rt eye and left eye power as well as numerator and denominator figures.
The combined power of 7.75 is at times used when we want to give spherical power only like in case of a non toric contact lens.
If there is any issue which you feel is not clear, please do get back to me to clarify.

dear doctor ,
thanks for the explanation, understood the but
1) Kindly clarify how we usually calculate the refractive error of the eye weather we take only spherical power as the power of the eye . as in this case for right eye its -7.0 or we take combined spherical and cylindrical power as the power of the eye that is -7.0 + -1.50 = -8.50 as the refractive error of the eye .
2) Kindly clarify how we usually calculate the refractive error of the eye weather we take only spherical power as the power of the eye . as in this case for left eye its -6.0 or we take combined spherical and cylindrical power as the power of the eye that is -6.0 + -1.75 = -7.75 as the refractive error of the eye .

Brief Answer:
Preoperative myopia.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
we don't add the spherical and cylindrical power, both being two separate entities. So the power of Right eye is -7spherical,-1.5 cylindrical axis 180°. and so on.
This will be a accurate way to denote the power of eye as adding 7 and 1.5 makes it 8.5 while it is only 7 in one part of eye pointed by the axis of cylindrical power.
I hope I have made it clear.Any confusion,do get back to me.
