Question: Hello Doctor, My baby girl 14 days old is suffering from jaundice doctor came to know on 4th day after birth and given photo therapy for 2 days to baby. The initial reference range was 20 which is high according to doctors and at the time of discharge it was 13.6. Again yesterday a fresh bilirubin test taken and 11.6 is the value and apart from that CBP also done and it seems neutrophils are in low. Please check the lab reports and suggest what exactly it is.

Brief Answer:
no need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
I have seen the reports
Let me answer both your concerns.
1. The current Bilirubin value of 11 doesn't require any further treatment. Usually the bilirubin value takes a month to drop to below 3 in newborn babies with jaundice. No more tests are required.
2. Low neutrophils with high lymphocytes is a common finding in newborn babies. No need to worry.
Only recommendation I will suggest is breastfeeding exclusively for 6 months.
No medicines are required.
Wishing your baby good health. Regards
Dr Arun
