Question: sir/madam.,,
I am 29 year old..i have a child who is 10month old.. my delivery was by scicearian. it was on 05 nov 2015. but after 6months of delivery i started weighing and my face became round in shape..before consulting doctor i took all the blood test , thyroid function test etc. when report came i was shocked, because my thyoid level was above 100(TSH) .So my cholesterol level has increased and was 400. so met physician immediately and he told it was due to thyroid problem(hypothyroidism) ur weight has increased. so i started taking thyroid supplement 50 mg. after 1 month i checked my thyroid test . the result was 33(TSH) So doctor told to take 100mg Eltroxin. again after 1 month i checked TSH level and it was found that 3.3 and my weight and cholesterol became normal. Doctor told me that dont stop taking the tablet now. Every three month check the TSH level and if any problem consult me. i consulted him on last july 2016. so iam taking the tablet still now but yesterday i just took test and it was found that TSH level was 0.07. so my question is is it necessary to take the tablet still now?? and is it necessary to take an immediate appointment with my Doctor???

Brief Answer:
Get AntiTPO antibodies and reduce the dose after consullting doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If you are my patient I would get revised Thyroid profile test done with antiTPO antibodies to check the reason for Hypothyroidism (low T4 and high TSH).
IF it it autoimmune thyroid problem then you should continue taking thyroid supplements but with revised dose. This should be a lifelong replacement as you age the thyroid gland would be destroyed slowly becoming non functional.
At this TSH level of 0.07 I would carefully reduce to 75 micrograms and retest after 1 month. I would like to keep the TSH between 2.0 to 3.0 by adjusting the dose of thyroid replacement therapy.

You should ask your doctor and discuss my opinion with him.
