Question: MRI of right knee. What does this mean?
IMPRESSION:
- Patellar tendinopathy at the tibial attachment site with marrow contusion in underlying tibia.
- Intrasubstance myxoid degeneration of posterior horn of medial meniscus.
- Sprain of anterior cruciate ligament and medial patellar retinaculum.
- Minimal fluid in patellofemoral and tibiofemoral joints.
- Early chondromalacia patella

Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

It means that there are changes of ageing in the knee causing cartilage (meniscus) damage with bone damage due to trauma, with sprain of the knee ligament (ACL) and previous with ongoing damage to the knee cap bone (Patellar chondromallacia).

I suppose these are due to trauma to an ageing knee.

Needs 4 weeks rest, icing and pain killers. Avoid flexing the knee.

I have been resting and following the RICE method while taking anti inflammatory daily I have also completed 8 sessions of physical therapy, with no improvement. What would be the next step to recovery?
