What causes pain and swelling in the right ankle?

Posted on Thu, 16 Nov 2017
Question: My right ankle swells throughout the day. I have some sudden pains occasionally in my Achilles which makes me stumble. The swelling goes down nightly but comes back the next day. I also have some knee pain and scar tissue from previously torn medial meniscus. Not sure how all are related.

Brief Answer:
Can be Achilles tendonitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

The swelling in the ankle with pain in achilles can be due to achilles tendonitis. This can be diagnosed after an MRI scan of the ankle. Taking rest anti inflammatory pain killers doing a hot compress and using an ankle brace will help.

I hope this answers your query.
