Question: I still have "bronchitis" with a very productive cough and laryngitis after 3 weeks. I am very easily exhausted. I can hear wheezing when I breath. MRI shows "shotty bilateral II A and IV cervical lymph nodes." And "Bilateral maxillary and mild ethmoid mucoperiosteal thickening." Is this more serious than bronchitis?

Brief Answer:
You need PFT to identify the severity of bronchitis

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HealthcareMagic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having sinusitis. And sinusitis can cause bronchitis. Both of them are easily treatable conditions, so don't worry much about it.
Sinusitis needs antibiotics.
Bronchitis needs inhaled bronchodilators like formoterol, salmeterol, ipratropium bromide according to severity of bronchitis.
And for severity, you need PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done PFT first.
After starting inhaled bronchodilators, your symptoms like wheezing, exhausted feeling, productive cough etc will also improve.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Can the PFT be done by my PCP? Is 3 weeks a normal amount of time to still have this amount of sickness? As I previously stated, on the 3rd day of this yuck, I had bloody phlegm being coughed up. I went to my PCP who prescribed a Z pack and an inhaler. So antibiotics and a bronchodilator have already been tried.

Brief Answer:
I don't think PCP will be able to do PFT.

I can understand your concern.
I don't think PCP will be able to do PFT.
You are will mostly need to consult pulmonologist for PFT.
And for routine illness, recovery is seen in mostly 2 weeks. So 3 weeks duration is more as far as recovery is concerned.
Can you please let me know which inhaler you have taken? Some inhalers are short acting, so they are not much effective.

Umm, i sing extreme metal songs. It was like 2 months ago i had to sing for a concert, after which i had this problem with my throat. It started with a discomfort and a kinda something stuck in my throat feeling. When inspected i found small granules developed in my posterior oropharynx region. I thought maybe it was the case of overuse of vocal chords and something related with it... (i had similar problems related to it a year ago, took voice rest for about two weeks plus AMOXICILLIN case: ACUTE laryngitis and got rid of it) I did voice rests, took amoxicillin for couple of days and i stopped... which i shouldn t have done. It went good for couple of days but the discomfort continued... I ve stopped singing and try not to speak more. After about a month,i visited a doc, he said its the case of CHRONIC pharyngitis. He prescribed AMOXICILLIN, CETIRIZINE for a week... but the granules are still there. They are itchy. The dry cough kinda feel is omnipresent. Whenever i take dairy products, i get this dry cough kinda feeling that causes the discomfort. It comes and goes... Even foods that are not that spicy causes the discomfort. I cough but mostly saliva. The doc says the problem is related with my nose, now i m on to CLAVAM 625 starting today... he says i gotta get operated for the solution. says the granules are the result of the nasal infection... when the nasal part is done the granules will subside themselves... The doc says its not too serious, but i still have the discomfort... Is it because i didn t took the proper dose for AMOXICILLIN that the granules are still there??? Suggestions please. Thank you.

Can Cervical DDD of C6-7 cause breathing issues? After a sinus infection in Feb and again in May, had difficulty breathing. Both times dr thought pneumonia, but xrays were clear. The first time, I was off work two weeks and eventually the shortness of breath went away. This time, it persists. I have psoriatic arthritis boarding on lupus so Doc though might be related to that and scheduled apt with pulmonary medicine, but they can t get me in till July 21st. Ended up in er yesterday, thought was having heart attack, as heart was beating hard, couldn t breathe, tingling down the arms, but heart is fine. Today I had CTScan of lungs to check for possible PE, but can was good. My o2 sats have remained good throughout at 98-99. I get the numbness down the arms, pain in shoulders (right is worse and got shot in it), can t lay on by back cause arms go numb, sometimes feel like fire ants are biting me. Oh, and I sound like I have laryngitis...have since this started. Based on an xray back in Oct 2013, I have DDD with narrowing of C6-C7. It s my understanding that the nerves from that area go to the lung area and throat. Since pulmonary keeps coming up negative, is it possible it s actually related to the spine instead, and I should have that checked out further?
