What Does This MRI Report Indicate?
Question: I have attached a picture of my spinal MRI scan. My neurologist said my spinal cord is thin but it hasbt got thinner than it was in 2012 when i had a another scan. He said that you may just have a naturally thinner spinal cord. Can the spinal cord be thinner in some individuals? I am having genetic testing soon. My symptoms are balance problems in legs. Tingling in both feet. Cold feet. The discs fom the spine are also pressing the cord could they be causing these symptoms?

Your spine imaging is showing thin cord with some changes at thoracic spine level.
The true pictures can be assessed on axial image.
Is there any weakness or increased tone in lower limbs?
Tropical spastic paraparesis may be one cause of thinned and atrophied spine.
You should provide more clinical details and upload prescription of examining neurologist.
Further testing can be advised accordingly.

I checked the reports and the clinical features are suggestive of myelopathy.
You should get blood test for vitamin B12, thyroid profile levels specificallys.. After examination we can include more tests.
Besides do you have any history of visual complaints, seizures or loss of consciousness?
A CSF(cerebrospinal fluid) examination may be required for demyelinating disorders like Neuromyelitis optica. They give brighter picture of the ongoing problem.
