Question: What is 1+ (-/trace) protein in urine and trace wbc indicate? Could this be due to poor collection technique?

Brief Answer:
could be poor collection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for asking here.

Although there are many reasons to find trace protein and wbc in the urinalysis there are certain disease conditions as well. It is very difficult to pin point any diagnosis with such miniscule information. Even simple dehydration, nutritional issues, local scratching, poor urine collection can lead to such aberrant results. Doctors will not be able to conclude with such results and re order the test.

I suggest you to retest the urine and also provide me the lab report along with the symptoms of your daughter that lead to urine testing. This is most important than urine lab report. Get the test a standard NABL certified laboratory in your area.

Hello,
Thank you very much for responding to me!
My daughter has no issues/symptoms that we are aware of. The reason she had urinalysis is because that is standard procedure for annual physical at her pediatrician office. My son got a urinalysis as well.
I will retest tomorrow. I'm very nervous..I hope the results will be protein free.
I will be careful during collection process. I also made my daughter drunk quite a bit.
Thank you

I'm sorry..I made her drink quite a bit !!

Brief Answer:
Routine testing should not lead to retesting

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

In my experience routine testing lead to unreal findings. You should relate the findings with the symptoms else they should be discarded in the trash. They do not have any meaning if there are no symptoms.

So be aware of such un necessary testing which may follow false positive findings on routine annual check ups
