Question: Hello doctor,
I need your suggestion and guidance on my pregnancy.
This is XXXXXXX 31yrs. My last period was Nov20th. I missed december period and did urine test twice with one week gap. DEC22nd and DEC26th. Both kits shows positive.
Today I went for Fetal viability scan and this scan shows nothing in the uterus as well as in tubes.Again I did urine test and it shows positive. I called to doctor she said take BETA HCG test.I've given blood sample today and they will give the reports tomorrow. But I'm not understanding what is happending. Am I pregnanat?what is beta HCG? Beta HCG means the miscarriage. Please let me know the details.I didn't understand anything

Brief Answer:
Beta hCG levels indicate pregnancy status

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) This could be biochemical pregnancy. Meaning pregnancy seen on urine test and beta hCG on blood test but not on ultrasound scan.

2) It might have got aborted or it is too early pregnancy to be detected on ultrasound scan.

3) Beta hCG levels help to follow up with raised values indicating live pregnancy or non viable pregnancy.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Thanks for your reply doctor!
If the the beta HCG test is positive, Baby is fine? when can we observe something in uterus.
Is it too early means my last period is nov20th.As per the my last period it's 7 weeks pregnancy. Is there any possibility that sac will not be visible in 7 weeks pregnancy?
If it's aborted, what are the causes for the same. Please explain me in details..Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Sac should have been visible at 7 weeks pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You can see sac clearly only if beta hCG is above 5000. This should be the minimum level at 7 weeks pregnancy.
