What Does The Following CT Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Hello,
I had a CT scan on Friday which showed a focal masslike hypoenhancement within the posterior body of the pancreas which is partially exophytic measuring1.1 x 1.4 cm. This focal area of hypo enhancement is not cystic by CT criteria. The pancreas otherwise enhances homogeneously without ductal dilation or peripancreatic inflammatory change.
Otherwise unremarkable CT scan of abdomen and pelvis.

I read carefully all your concern and I am sorry for the situation you are in.
You are reporting to have pancreatic mass on Ct scan, no cystic lesion.
It is a good sign that the pancreatic ductus is not enlarged but it is not sufficient for ruling out malignancy.
This is why I strongly recommend to do :
- Endoscopy ultrasound(EUS)
- tumor marker like Ca 19-9,CEA,Ca125
You are reporting that your doctor has recommended dynamic MRI with contrast.
This exam is very good to diagnose pancreatic issues and I agree with him.
The reason why I have recommended endoscopy ultrasound and not is related with the advantage of this exam to get biopsy of pancreatic mass.
The biopsy of the mass will definitely decide the right nature of your pancreatic mass.
Please discuss with your doctor about the examinations that I have mentioned above.

Thank you for your answer. Is the pancreatic Ductus involved in a large percentage of malignancies in the Pancreas? !.4 is quite small-right?

In a large percentage pancreatic duct is enlarged in pancreatic malignancy.
With regards to the size of pancreatic mass, it is really small but still needs to be evaluated.
