What Does The Pap Smear Report Indicate?

Question: Yes.. I had a Pap smear and yes tested positive for hpv however the cells are negative for disease... The virus is present, but no changes in the cells... My Gyno says not to be concerned... I can be retested in one year but if I am anxious six months...

Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Your doctor is very right in telling you not to worry if there are no cellular changes in the cervix due to HPV infection. Only positive HPV infection needs to be reassessed after one year with HPV retesting and pap smear.
