What Does Smaller Than Expected Thyroid Mean?

Question: I have Hashimoto disease with "smaller than expected" thyroid. There is a "7 x 7 x 1.2 cm mixed echo texture nodule in the right lobe. How large is this and what does mixed echo texture mean?

Thanks for your query.

As you said you have hypothyroidism for which you are taking synthroid 175 mcg and it is balanced so we do not discuss that. now the new thing is the nodule, the size is significant and mixed echo texture means that it will require FNAC(fine needle aspiration cytology) for the final statement to be released. so please get FNAC done and let us know the results.

Thank you. I am curious as to just what size the described nodule is? Can you make a comparison, such as: a pinhead, a pea, a dime, etc? Can the FNCA be done at a regular office visit?

FNAC can be done as an OPD visit.

Dear ma'm, if it is 7 cm it is large if it is 7 mm then it is insignificant. so I guess it is a large one. please rule out complications by FNAC which can be done as an out patient visit
