What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?
Question: My son had Ewing's sarcoma in his right hip at the age of 11 he had 14 rounds of chemo and six weeks of radiation he has been cancer free for 8 years he is now 20 and he works out everyday for 2 to 3 hours and takes a large amount of protein every day I found out he has blood in his urine for the last two week he is wetting the bed every night and now he tells me he has blood in his stool for the last 3 days I had taken him to are ER and they took an ultra sound of his kidneys and said he has acute kidney damage but he did not tell them he had blood in his stool the blood is bright red in his urine and when he has a bowel movement what do you think is going on.

Hello dear. It sems unrelated to cancer as ewings sarcoma usually a curable illness and does not recur after prolong period. Most common cause of this can be either nephritis(vasculitic in nature) or some infection. He requires urine and blood examination for the same including markers for vasculitis, urine routine evaluation. If possible get an MRI of abdomen done to rule out urinary stone disease.

Definite treatment can be decided after the tests.
