thanks doc, the only reason I asked is that the ALT was 42 and the range was Less than 42 and it was marked with a H in the flag. Its great to be reassured that It is indeed normal :)

Brief Answer:
This much increase doesn't require any treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

ALT level is marginally raised, but this much increase doesn't require any treatment.Normal value slightly varies with different labs.

You may only need regular follow up for ALT.If it increases further then you may need medicines like ursodeoxycholic acid tablet. It helps in regeneration of liver cells.

Increased ALT may indicate liver injury. It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, altered lipid profile, medicines, auto immune causes etc.

You may need few more investigations like routine hemogram, random blood sugar, lipid profile, viral markers, urine RE/ME,ultrasound of abdomen.

You should take lot of fibers.Avoid saturated fat and go for brisk walk regularly.
Avoid alcohol if you take it.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
